Bobcats Come Up Short at Pittsburgh, 2-1
|
Pittsburgh Industrials starter Bob Briggs turned in a sterling performance against the Cleveland Bobcats, leading his team to a slim, 2-1 win. Ray Williams finished to wrap up his 20th save. The Industrials lead the National Baseball League Eastern Division by 6½ games.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Industrials had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when second baseman Rob Isenbarger hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Dennis Lawrence and made the score 1-0, Industrials. Isenbarger was 1 for 3. He drove in 2 runs.
"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Isenbarger. "It eases the tension."
