The New York Empires downed the Atlanta Generals, 4-1, at Queens Field. Stellar pitching by Larry Stanford had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 8th in the ABL in innings pitched with 167.1, handcuffed his opponent all game. Stanford picked up the win for New York, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 10-9. Jack Pratt notched his 16th save in 22 chances.

The Empires got a big at-bat from right fielder Paul Brower. For the game, Brower was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave New York a 2-1 lead.
