Packers Beaten By Bulls, 7-4
|
Kansas City and Cincinnati duked it out and the Bulls came out victorious.
The 7-4 Kansas City win over Cincinnati was due in large part to Emilio Cortez. The Bulls right fielder was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Waldo Hardaway, the winning pitcher, is now 6-14. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 1. Andy Luce, credited with the save, is now 6 for 12 in save opportunities.
Joe Rafferty was 1-3. He drove in 3 runs for Kansas City. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Fernando Lopez. It was his 15th RBI of the season.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Cortez.
Kansas City, at 48-64, holds down 6th place in the National Baseball League Western Division.
