Detroit Wins, Cooper goes 3-for-4
|
The Detroit Wolverines downed the Boston Terriers, 9-0. The hitting star was shortstop Joe Cooper. Cooper was 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Wolverines. Detroit pitcher Fred Harrison got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bruce Shurtleff got the loss. Detroit has 3 straight wins, Boston 3 straight losses.
With Detroit leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Cooper hit a knuckle curve from Bruce Shurtleff for a run-scoring triple. It was his 4th triple of the season and put the Wolverines ahead, 2-0.
