Knickerbockers Come Up Short at Pittsburgh, 2-1
|
Allegheny Field was the site of a tense game between the New York Knickerbockers and Pittsburgh Industrials.
Dick Witt was locked and loaded, helping the Pittsburgh Industrials beat the New York Knickerbockers, 2-1. Pittsburgh, at 77-42, is 14 games up in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
Willie Cooper drove in one run for Pittsburgh. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Steve Eaton. It was his 52nd RBI of the season.
Witt said afterward that the win gets the team one step closer to its goal.
