The Chicago Hawks got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Haskett, but the Dallas Wranglers still won the game, 5-4. Haskett threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. With the win, Dallas raised its record to 66-52.

The decisive blow was delivered by Don Hughes in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 30-year old right-handed pitcher Don McCoy to win the game for Dallas. The home crowd went nuts.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Hughes told the Dallas Observer.
