Hunter Helps Toronto Cruise to 10-1 Win
|
The Toronto Hurons thumped the Detroit Wolverines, 10-1, at Dominion Field. Dave Hunter was a big reason his team got the win. Hunter went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Bill John picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 12-7. With the win over Detroit, the Hurons improved to 56-65.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Hunter hit a 2-run home run off Jim Bryant. It propelled the Hurons into the lead, 3-1.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Detroit manager Alex Wobbema.
