The Houston Drillers racked up a win at Sam Houston Field, bumping off the Twin Cities Northmen, 5-3. Oscar Contreras, who started for Houston, pitched effectively for his team. Contreras got the win, improving to 9-6. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Contreras allowed no runs. Houston now has a record of 61-59 with the win.

In the top of the ninth, Dave Bishop stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Northmen were trailing 5-3, but had runners on 2nd and 3rd. That's when Tim Fried made a terrific pitch and Bishop grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Twin Cities comeback.
