The Detroit Wolverines used a great performance from Larry Black, who led the ABL in wins with 20 in 1970, to beat the Atlanta Generals, 1-0, at Atlantic Station Field. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Warren Washington. The Generals, now 4-9, continue their inauspicious start.
Duane Simmons, who finished 3rd in the ABL in RBI with 100 in 1972, had a direct impact on the outcome. Simmons contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Detroit up, 1-0.
"We did just enough to win," Simmons said.
