Wolverines Earn 3-2 Win Against Northmen
The Detroit Wolverines earned a close win over the Twin Cities Northmen, thanks in part to Juan Rodriguez. The Detroit left-hander, who led the ABL in wins with 21 in 1968, played a key role in the 11-inning, 3-2 victory. Gary Doll was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Paul Whitaker. The triumph puts Detroit at 66-58 for the season.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Detroit shortstop Joe Cooper, facing Paul Whitaker, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Wolverines the 3-2 win.

"Juan just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Detroit manager Alex Wobbema.
