Hawks Come Back Late, Nip Emeralds
|
The Chicago Hawks defeated the Seattle Emeralds, 4-3, in American Baseball League action at Hyde Park Stadium. Chicago pitcher Kevin Edwards had a standout performance. Chicago reliever Alfredo Alvarado picked up the win, upping his record to 6-8. Deward Collins absorbed the loss. The victory makes Chicago 44-83.
Jim Farrar was the walk-off hero for Chicago. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Hawks second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Mark Velez.
