Riding the 3-hit performance of the two-time All-Star Fran Precourt, the Chicago Traders stopped the Denver Burros, 5-2, in 9 innings. The defeat makes Denver 4-10.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Chicago trailing 2-1, Precourt jumped on a sinker from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Archie Sereni and hit a grand slam home run to left. With one swing, the Traders had a walk-off win.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Precourt said.
