The timely hitting of Bobby Tapia helped the San Francisco Seagulls down the Dallas Wranglers, 8-7. Tapia went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Seagulls. The win went to Dave Maughan in relief. His record improves to 5-3. Frank Dunn took the loss. San Francisco leads the American Baseball League Western Division by 2½ games.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Tapia hit a cutter from Frank Dunn for a run-scoring single. The Seagulls, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Was I getting worried?" said Seagulls manager Al Borie. "Nope." Then he added, with a wink, "There was never a doubt in my mind."
