Hawks Sneak Past Emeralds, 4-3
|
The Chicago Hawks faced a tough opponent in Seattle pitcher Jack Pace, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Puget Field by a final score of 4-3. Pace went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Chicago reliever Ken Eldridge got the win, raising his record to 5-1. Ron Woods was tagged with the loss. After losing, Seattle is 7-6.
Chicago needed the clutch hitting of Don Bozza to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hawks on top, 4-2. For the game, Bozza had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Bozza after the game.
