Industrials Sneak Past Blockbusters, 2-1
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials topped the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 2-1, in National Baseball League action at Allegheny Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Pittsburgh pitcher Jerry Zaruba. Pittsburgh reliever Bob Cole picked up the win, upping his record to 17-4. Billy Duprey was saddled with the loss. The first-place Industrials, at 92-47, now lead their division by 18½ games.
Tim Grange was the walk-off hero for Pittsburgh. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Industrials third baseman hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"What an ending!" said a jubilant Grange.
