Hawks Outdo Emeralds in Extra Innings
The Chicago Hawks picked up a win at Puget Field, courtesy of Doug Smilanich. The right-hander helped his team stop the Seattle Emeralds, 2-1. Seattle is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.

Gary Tavares came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Doug pitched like a champ," said Chicago manager Mike Flaherty.
