5 Straight Wins for Generals
The Atlanta Generals topped the New York Empires, 5-4, at Queens Field. Atlanta second baseman Roberto Palacios was a spark plug for the offense. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was 26-year old left-handed pitcher Frank Noorani. He tossed 113 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 11 hits. Ron Winder collected his 10th save.

Palacios contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Atlanta in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Palacios took a curveball from Larry Stanford and stroked the home run to left. His 21st home run of the season allowed the Generals to leap in front, 4-3.

"Roberto was ready to go. Big day for him," said Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie.

Atlanta has run its win streak to 5 in a row.
