The Seattle Emeralds beat the Dallas Wranglers, 5-3, at Puget Field. Don Boatwright, in particular, was impressive. He was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Bill Lemley, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 2. The defeat makes Dallas 71-77.
Seattle took a 4-2 lead on Boatwright's 6th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Barry Gilmore in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Seattle to the win.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Boatwright said. "That's why you play the game."
