Hawks Victors, 7-5, at Twin Cities
Hawks catcher Gary Tavares put his stamp on his team's 7-5 win over the Twin Cities Northmen. Tavares was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for Chicago in the contest. Mike Haskett was the winner. He's now 1-1. The loser was two-time All-Star Syed Farooqi. Angel Villatoro was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 17 save opportunities.

With Chicago leading 3-1 in the top of the fifth, Tavares hit a changeup from Syed Farooqi for a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Hawks ahead, 7-1.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Tavares. "It sure beats the alternative."

The loss makes Twin Cities 75-80.
