The San Francisco Seagulls beat the Los Angeles Pobladores, 5-3, at Mission Field. Chuck Roberts, in particular, was impressive. He was 3-3 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. The American Baseball League Western Division-leading Seagulls have a record of 93-65.
Jose Barroso, who is a two-time All-Star, took Los Angeles hurler Larry Seger deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Seagulls on top, 5-3. In all, Barroso had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
