Wolverines Beat Atlanta, 3-2
Juan Rodriguez, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1967, was locked in. The left-hander led the Detroit Wolverines to a 3-2 win against the Atlanta Generals at Atlantic Station Field. Fred Harrison closed it out for Detroit, earning his 14th save. Detroit has now won 3 in a row.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Larry Adams came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Atlanta pitcher Ron Cwiklinski, he hit a 0-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Detroit on top, 3-2.

"That's baseball," said Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
