The stakes were high. Jerry Patrick was ready.

The right-hander turned in a performance for the ages at Seton Hill Stadium, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the San Francisco Seagulls to victory in Game 1 of the Divisional Round. Patrick held the Baltimore Lords to 2 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 7. The win got the best-of-7 series off to a good start for San Francisco, which now leads 1-0.

Patrick was in the zone all game. He frustrated Baltimore hitters while giving the Seagulls 9 innings of quality work. Patrick threw 123 pitches, allowing 2 hits and getting 7 punchouts.

"Jerry did a nice job," said Seagulls manager Al Borie.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Seton Hill Stadium in Baltimore.
