San Francisco Tops St. Louis, 4-2, Claims 2-1 Series Lead
|
Leave it to the veteran.
The San Francisco Seagulls got a great start from 34-year-old right-hander Tim Stambaugh, as San Francisco won the contest, 4-2, at Corps of Discovery Stadium. Stambaugh threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which allowed the Seagulls to grab a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Stambaugh, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, was dealing all game. He kept St. Louis hitters off-balance, while giving the Seagulls 8 quality innings. Stambaugh threw 118 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 7.
"We have a lot of confidence in Tim," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Corps of Discovery Stadium in St. Louis.
