Eagles Collect 7-6 Win Over Industrials
Fans who congregated at Allegheny Field were treated to extra-inning drama.

The Washington Eagles faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Jerry Zaruba, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Allegheny Field by a final score of 7-6. Zaruba went 9 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner was Washington reliever Tom McAteer, now 2-1. The loser was Dave Maughan. Fred Williams earned the save for Washington, his 1st of the year.

Washington used a clutch hit from Hector Disla to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Eagles ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Disla said.

The loss lowers the Pittsburgh record to 11-12.
