Generals Thrill Fans with 4-3 Win
|
Joe Harrison was instrumental in his team's 4-3 triumph over the Los Angeles Pobladores. The center fielder was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Atlanta Generals. The Pobladores fall to 10-13 and continue their lackluster start in 1974.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 26-year old shortstop Kyle Devine had a real shot to win the game. Los Angeles pitcher Larry Seger was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Devine hit a run-scoring single. The Generals had a walk-off triumph.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Harrison told the Atlanta Bulletin.
