The New York Empires picked up a win at Hyde Park Stadium, courtesy of Larry Stanford. The left-hander helped his team stop the Chicago Hawks, 3-2. Now 19-6, the 1976 Empires have been phenomenal so far.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Roger Hickey? The fan favorite Hickey stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put New York up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"I'm happy we won," said Stanford. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
