Quakers Handed 4-2 Loss by Pittsburgh
|
Pittsburgh picked up a win at Allegheny Field, bumping off the Philadelphia Quakers, 4-2. Pitcher Dick Witt was a major reason the Industrials emerged victorious. The Industrials, now 20-4, have stormed out of the gates.
Carlos Chavez, who is tied for 5th in the NBL in total bases with 49, aided the Pittsburgh cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the center fielder went 1-4 with a double.
"I like our moxie," said Industrials manager Vincent Wicker.
