Atlanta Beats Houston in 11-Inning Thriller
The Atlanta Generals overcame a big game from Houston third baseman Wade Fields to pick up a win at Atlantic Station Field. The final score was 5-4, Atlanta, in 11 innings. Fields went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winner was Atlanta reliever Dave Kretz, now 2-1. The loser was Billy Gray. Houston falls to 12-14.

The decisive blow was delivered by Steve Walp in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a solo home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Billy Gray to win the game for Atlanta. The home crowd went nuts.

"This wasn't a good win," said Walp. "It was a great win."
