Wolverines Topple Pobladores, 13-8, as Hudson Shines
The 13-8 Detroit win over Los Angeles was due in large part to Steve Hudson. The Wolverines center fielder was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Larry Black picked up the win, lifting his record to 6-0 on the season. He struck out 3 and walked 0 in 6 innings, while yielding 6 runs. Early on, the Wolverines, at 19-8, have played an impressive brand of baseball.

Duane Simmons, who finished 5th in the ABL in wins above replacement with 7.0 in 1973, had a timely hit in the top of the fifth inning. With no one out and the bases loaded, the Detroit third baseman hit a 2-run single. That put the Wolverines in front, 5-4.

"We got the victory," said Hudson. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
