With left fielder Bobby Tapia leading the charge, the San Francisco Seagulls defeated the Detroit Wolverines, 8-4, at Mission Field. Tapia, who is tied for 4th in the ABL in hits with 35, was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Detroit falls to 17-12.

Had Bob Russell not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Russell hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Seagulls.

"Hitting is contagious. And when you have a lineup that's going to throw out competitive at-bats one through nine, it makes you want to join in," said Tapia.
