Dairymen Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The San Diego Captains got a superb performance from pitcher John Espersen, but the Milwaukee Dairymen still won the game, 3-2. Espersen threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Arnie Keilman, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. San Diego falls to 21-10.
Tug Hollenbeck had a direct impact on the outcome. Hollenbeck contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Milwaukee up, 3-2.
Hollenbeck attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
