Wolverines Pick Up 3-2 Win Against Dallas
Steve Coomes pitched well, but the Dallas Wranglers still lost the game, falling, 3-2, to the Detroit Wolverines at Wolverine Field. Jim Bryant, who finished 2nd in the ABL in wins with 20 in 1968, was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. John Bailey, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.

The Wranglers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Wolverines going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Duane Simmons came to the plate. Simmons hit a 3-run home run on a 0-1 changeup from Dallas hurler Steve Coomes. It was Simmons's 8th home run of the year.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Simmons.

The win for the Wolverines raised their record to 26-14.
