Seagulls Win at Chicago, 5-2
|
The San Francisco Seagulls racked up a win at Hyde Park Stadium, bumping off the Chicago Hawks, 5-2. Tim Stambaugh, who started for San Francisco, pitched effectively for his team. Stambaugh went the distance for San Francisco. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. The Seagulls, now 27-12, have won 4 in a row.
The outcome might have been different had it not been for Stambaugh. In the top of the seventh inning, when the Seagulls were trailing 1-0, Stambaugh delivered a two-out 2-run single for San Francisco, giving his team the lead.
"I have a really good team behind me," Stambaugh said. "I trust them 100 percent."
