The San Francisco Seagulls, despite a fine performance by Houston pitcher Dick Knight, grabbed a 3-2 win at Mission Field. Knight allowed no runs over 8 innings. San Francisco raised its record to 27-16 with the win.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for San Francisco. That's when Jose Sosa hit a run-scoring double off 29-year old left-handed pitcher Bill Switzer to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"Every loss stings," said Houston manager Tom Harrington. "This one is no exception."
