Drillers Earn 4-2 Home Win
|
The Houston Drillers got a rain-soaked win over the Dallas Wranglers.
The Houston Drillers beat the Dallas Wranglers, 4-2, at Sam Houston Field. Houston left fielder Mike Wells had the hot bat. He was 2-3 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Francisco Castro, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Wranglers to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1.
With Houston leading 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Wells hit a fastball from Dario Perez for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Drillers ahead, 4-1.
In postgame comments to the Houston Observer, Wells said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Dallas is 1-4 after the defeat.
