Knickerbockers Earn 3-1 Road Win Over Cleveland
|
The New York Knickerbockers went home winners at Lakefront Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Jack Forbes. Forbes stifled the Cleveland Bobcats, enabling New York to grab the 3-1 win. In 7.2 innings, Forbes surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. The win lifted the New York record to 27-25.
New York used the hitting of Bob Underwood to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Knickerbockers on top, 2-0. For the game, Underwood had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Jack just settled in and did what he does," said New York manager Timothy Widholm.
