The New York Knickerbockers racked up a win at Allegheny Field, bumping off the Pittsburgh Industrials, 4-3. Dave Torre, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. Torre got the win, improving to 7-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. Torre allowed 2 runs. Steve Eaton was called on to finish, recording his 7th save.
Diego Mateo hit a 2-run double off Dennis Jackson in the top of the first, which put the Knickerbockers in front, 2-0. In addition to the double, Mateo had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
"Dave was pounding the zone," said New York manager William Bowen.
The triumph puts New York at 30-24 for the season.
