Knickerbockers Rally Late to Nip Bobcats
|
Cleveland got a big-time effort from pitcher Pat Burkholder, but it wasn't enough to keep the New York Knickerbockers from winning the game, 2-1. Burkholder threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. New York raised its record to 30-25 with the win.
The decisive blow was delivered by Wayne Baker in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off former first round draft pick Joe Clabaugh to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Baker said in his postgame press conference.
