The Hawks grabbed a win, 5-1, at Sam Houston Field, overcoming a fine effort from Houston pitcher Oscar Contreras. Contreras went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Armando Estrada, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. Houston drops to 2-4.

Chicago used a timely hit from Gary Dorsey to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hawks ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Chicago manager Mike Flaherty. "It's usually not just one thing."
