Terriers Net 3-2 Win Over Empires
|
Boston Terriers starter Bob Schar turned in a sterling performance against the New York Empires, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Schar, now 9-4. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Mark Gaynor, credited with the save, is now 8 for 12 in save opportunities.
Eddie Ellison, the three-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Ellison contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Boston up, 1-0.
"We were in it," said New York manager John Harris. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The win makes Boston 30-31.
