Habitants Deal Toronto 5-2 Defeat
|
The Toronto Hurons got a superb performance from pitcher Bill John, but the Montreal Habitants still won the game, 5-2. John threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives Montreal a season record of 33-30.
Had Marvin Walker not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Walker hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Habitants.
Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
