There was no shortage of dramatics at Atlantic Station Field.

The Atlanta Generals had to overcome a good performance from New York pitcher Jon Pierce to claim a 3-2 win at Atlantic Station Field. Pierce went 9 innings and allowed 2 runs. Renie White, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 1.

The decisive blow was delivered by Steve Walp in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Duncan to win the game for Atlanta. The home crowd went nuts.

"We had the right guys up at the right times," said New York manager Dan Whiting. "We just didn't cash in."

The loss drops New York to 3-4.
