Bulls Rally Late to Nip Traders
|
The Kansas City Bulls earned a close win over the Chicago Traders, thanks in part to Tim McDonald. The Kansas City left-hander, who finished 5th in the NBL in strikeouts with 169 in 1970, played a key role in the 10-inning, 3-2 victory. Kansas City reliever Bob Crosby picked up the win, upping his record to 6-7. Jimmy Calhoun absorbed the loss. The setback makes Chicago 41-29.
Chris Taylor came through with a big-time hit for Kansas City. The left fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," McDonald told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
