Blockbusters Nip Bluebirds, 5-4
|
Greg Landrum had a good game, but he could not keep the Brooklyn Bluebirds from falling, 5-4, to the Los Angeles Blockbusters at Blockbuster Stadium. The Brooklyn left fielder belted 2 home runs in the loss. Billy Duprey, the winner, is now 7-6. He struck out 8 and walked 0 over 7.1 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 9 hits. Tom Benson earned the save for Los Angeles, his 15th of the year.
The Blockbusters got a big at-bat from second baseman Ken Frederick. For the game, Frederick was 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 18th double of the season gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Frederick.
The Blockbusters raised their record to 31-36.
