Knickerbockers Win at Home, 5-1
|
New York second baseman Steve Wright was a significant contributor in his team's 5-1 triumph over the Cincinnati Packers. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Knickerbockers. Chris Hull was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 1 run on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Cincinnati, with the loss, is still a hardy 5-2.
New York took a 5-1 lead on Wright's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Fernando Lopez in the bottom of the seventh, propelled New York to the win.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Wright told the New York Today.
