Keith Williams, who is tied for 5th in the NBL in wins with 8, was locked in. The right-hander led the Denver Burros to a 4-3 win against the Kansas City Bulls at Gates Crescent Park. The win belonged to Frank Combs in relief. His record improves to 6-2. Bob Crosby took the loss for Kansas City. The Burros lead the National Baseball League Western Division by 6 games.
Shorewood, Illinois-born Tom Clark came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Burros trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Denver on top.
"We were the better team," crowed Clark.
