The Chicago Traders picked up a win at Union Field, knocking off the Denver Burros, 4-3. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Larry Cox. He played a key role in the triumph. Cox got the win, improving to 8-7. He gave up 4 hits and walked 5 over 8 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Chicago now owns a record of 32-39.

Rafael Fuentes dealt the Burros a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with a runner on 3rd and Chicago leading 3-0, Fuentes, the 2nd overall pick in the 1967 draft, hit a 0-1 cutter for a run-scoring single.

"We did a lot of things right," said Fuentes.
