Church Fires Shutout in Dairymen Victory
Monday, May 17th , 1965
Milwaukee Dairymen starter Dave Church really did a number on the Washington Rough Riders today, shutting them out 1-0 on 4 hits in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 6 strikeouts.
"We didn't have good at-bats," said Washington manager John Gagan. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Church."
This year Church has 2 wins and 1 loss and a 2.44 ERA.
