Hurley Records Shutout Against Bulls
Thursday, May 4th , 1967
In an outstanding mound performance, Philadelphia Quakers starter Jeff Hurley fired a complete-game shutout against the Kansas City Bulls at Independence Field today.
Hurley was the key to the Quakers's 2-0 win. The 22-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 2 hits and 4 walks he allowed.
"2 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
