"Damon was just locating so well and using his pitches," Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate." Rutherford recorded 2 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing. "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Los Angeles manager John Trausch said in postgame comments to BNN.
