Wiley Sends Houston Bats to Deep Freeze
Thursday, April 18th , 1974
It was not a good day at the plate for the Houston Drillers. They came up empty when it mattered against San Francisco Seagulls right-hander Paul Wiley, who scattered 7 hits across 9 innings and held the Drillers scoreless.
"We had 7 hits so I know he wasn't completely untouchable, but he was close," Houston manager Nate Nilsson said later.
Wiley chalked up 1 strikeout and 5 walks in the 3-0 Seagulls win.
